History

Developing a totally new and innovative product is a truly challenging task, especially in a start up scenario with limited funds and resources. We began as an engineering teacher and student with a bright idea. Bright ideas are unfortunately a long way from reality. Bramal started in a home garage where we burnt the midnight oil. Little by little we gained information by spraying all conceivable mixtures of ground tire polymers and liquid binder all while reviewing our notions of fluid dynamics.

The aim was simple: Use high quality tire polymer in a mass construction application, where both product performance and the environment would benefit.

The result: A new construction polymer and a totally new and efficient method of applying the material.

After a basic development of formula and equipment we gained the interest of the CNRC (Canadian National Research Council) and CRIQ (Quebec’s Industrial Research Center) to assist in the technical development. We then had the good fortune to gain the support of a forward thinking multinational company, whose interest was to develop an “environomic” project, which is a business centered on environmental positivity driven by economic demand. We finally had momentum.

Success is built on good ideas and the right timing. The roofing industry is ready for a new product with more efficient and safer method of installation. We believe the roofing industry is ready for change and we are all ready for products which reuse and reprocess quality materials. In a nut shell, everyone benefits. Bramal will continue to develop its product and others like it.

At present, many waste polymers are incinerated for their energy value. We feel that this is a very poor choice as high quality, value added products can be made instead.Developing a totally new and innovative product is a truly challenging task, especially in a start up scenario with limited funds and resources.
